2 Marines hurt in Sulu IED blast PDF Print E-mail

Two members of the Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 were hurt after an improvised explosive device (IED) hit their convoy heading to Barangay Tangantangan, Patikul, Sulu Saturday, military officials said.

Col. Rodrigo Gregorio, Western Mindanao Command spokesperson, identified the two as Sgt. Almandres Muhajil and Cpl. Antonieto D. Docdoc.

Both men are members of MBLT-11 a field unit of the 2nd Marine Brigade.

Gregorio said the wounded Marines were aboard a two-vehicle convoy composed of a M-35 truck and a V-150 armored personnel carrier and were assigned to secure medical civic action program the locality when a IED exploded as they were passing through Sitio Tuwak, Barangay Bonbon, Patikul, Sulu around 6 a.m.

Shrapnel fragments wounded Muhajil and Docdoc. No major damage was reported on the two vehicles.

The injured troopers were all quickly treated in the nearest medical facility. Pursuit operations are now ongoing against the suspects.
