Yakap partylist Rep.  Carol Jayne B. Lopez has vowed to push a bill in Congress making Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting mandatory in elementary level.

Currently, Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting are optional and not a requirement in elementary level.

Lopez explained that mandatory scouting is very important for children  because at younger age they are trained and taught what patriotism is, to love God, fellowmen and country, to be responsible, to have camaraderie, friendship, brotherhood  and self reliance or in local dialect, “Laging Handa”.

“I am a mother, I want every kid in the country to be respectful, helpful to others, makabayan and makadiyos and most of all caring  about the protection and preservation of the environment”, Lopez said.

Meanwhile, Lopez disclosed that in her second term, she will continue to focus on the development of education for children and out-of-school youth.

She thanked former Sarangani Governor Miguel Rene A. Dominguez and local officials for helping the Yakap Partylist won in General Santos City, South  Cotabato Province and Sarangani Province.

“I will help and bring education here (Socsargen) in your area because Makati is very  progressive. Your kids here need assistance so that they cango to school and study well,” Lopez stressed. — Allen Abastillas
