A 30-year-old man was shot and seriously wounded by two men in Sta. Catalina last Tuesday night.

Wounded was Eletrito Yusores y Tepacia alias Budoy, married, of Purok 3C, Sta. Catalina. He sustained bullet wounds in the body and injuries in the head and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

A police report disclosed that Yusores and some companions were drinking near their residence when Rene Boy Basalo and Rolly Mayonadoarrived and joined them.

Basalo and Mayonado became upset about the fish “pulutan” that Yusores offered them.  They engaged in a heated argument after which Basalo and Mayonado punched Yusores which resulted in a fistfight between them.

Basalo then pulled out a .45 caliber pistol, while Yusores, terrified, ran away. But he was shot by Basalo hitting in the back of his body.

Police said that Yusores collapsed on the ground after he was hit by three bullets in the body. At this point, Basalo and Mayonado approached Yusores and continued punching him.

Mayonado grabbed the pistol from Basalo and struck in on Yusores’ head.

The duo then escaped but Mayonado was arrested by men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety under Supt. William Gadayan. Later, Basalo surrendered. — Dan Toribio Jr.
