Police rescue 2-yr-old boy one hour after abduction PDF Print E-mail

Police rescued a two-year-old old boy less than an hour after he was abducted by his uncle and two companions in Tumaga yesterday morning.

The suspects were arrested by policemen when they rescued the boy at a checkpoint inRecodo

OIC-City Police Director Sr. Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo identified those arrested as Ryan Asali y Asulan, 30, married, of Don Toribio St., Tetuan, Alvin Saudani, 20, of Tumaga and Asiri Andak of Sinunuc.

A police report disclosed that Asali went to the house of his relatives in Tumaga, grabbed James Jamang, 2, and boarded a multicab driven by a certainBuddy.

Asali, along with the boy sped towards west coast while the incident was reported to the police. All police stations were sent alarm signal on theabduction.

Men of the Ayala Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Edilberto Alvarez immediately set up a surprise checkpoint that resulted in the arrest of the suspects and the rescue of the boy.

Investigation disclosed that Asali took the boy in Tumaga and boarded a multicab driven by Buddy. When they reached Sinunuc, they changed multicab which he hired from Andak and Saudani. They sped towards Recodo where they were intercepted by Alvarez and his men.

The suspects were turned over to the Sta. Maria Police Station while the boy was claimed by his parents.

In an interview, Asali said he took the boy who is a relative of his wife to demand from her to return home to him.

Asali said his wife left him for two weeks after her relatives wanted to send her abroad which had opposed.

Asali added that Andak, Saudani and Buddy were innocent of the crime as he only hired them to utilize their vehicle to bring them to Recodo.

Asali and the two others were detained at the Sta. Maria Police Station pending the filing of charges against them in court. – Dan Toribio Jr.
