Men of the Vitali Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Joel Tuttuh under the command of OIC-City Police Director Sr. Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo with personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources confiscated illegally cut lumber at Sitio Dabuy, Sibulao last Thursday.

A police report disclosed that the Vitali station policemen rushed to Sitio Dabuy after receiving report that several lumber flitches were hidden thereat by unidentified loggers.

Upon arrival, the policemen and DENR personnel found flitches of lawaan tree estimated at 500 board feet and worth P15,000.

Police suspected  that the lumber flitches were left by the loggers after they cut it from the forest with the intention of retrieving it later.

The recovered lumber were turned over to the DENR after it was properly recorded at the Vitali Police Station.

Thepolice and the DENR are closely checking on illegal cutting of trees in the city’s forested areas.

Several operations have been carried out by the police and the DENR in the different places that resulted in the confiscation of volumes of illegally cut trees and the arrest of some illegal logging law violators. – Dan Toribio Jr.
