The Department of Tourism (DOT) is pleased to announce its new program called the “DOT Tourism STAR”.  This program aims to give recognition to tourism front liners and individuals with direct contact with tourists.

The people to be acknowledged are those who go the extra mile in giving tourists a pleasant experience in the Philippines as well as those who exemplify the true Filipino hospitality in their workplace.  Local government units, under the leadership of a local chief executive (mayor or governor), whose projects have created and are creating positive impacts to the tourism industry, will also be given due recognition. This project will be launched on September 2013, in time for the Tourism Week.

In line with producing relevant materials for the promotion of this program, DOT is currently collecting stories that are testaments to the outstanding service that the Filipino people are providing tourists in the region.  The chosen stories will be featured in the, the official website of DOT Tourism Star.  Articles or stories must be submitted to on or before July 26, 2013.   Interested contributors may visit the DOT IX office or call telephone numbers (062) 955-2477 or 993-0030 for inquiries.
