Mayor Beng Climaco is steadfast in her support to President Noynoy Aquino, as she expressed confidence that the PNoy will be able to deliver more in the remaining years of his administration.

“It is the people who will judge [the president] but definitely whether it is a 5 or a 10, I am here to support him to make sure that he gets a 10,” Mayor Climaco, a close ally of the president, said when asked to rate the Chief Executive on his accomplishments the past 3 years.

She said the president is a “work in progress” and that since he sat in office and delivered his first state of the nation address until today, various gains have been accomplished. “It is a work in progress given the six years that he will serve. I am very sure that by his next SONA he will be able to roll out more accomplishments to the people.”

With regards to criticisms on the president’s performance, the former Deputy House Speaker said criticisms are but a form of democratic process of expressing ideas and sentiments.

She said the president’s report in his SONA last Monday was an outline of the accomplishments and gains of the various departments under PNoy’s administration.  It is the work of the local government units, as agencies of government to make the people feel the help and support of the national government through various programs such as livelihood activities made available by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and other programs, she stressed.

On the other hand, Climaco said it is the responsibility and obligation of the constituents to support government programs such as through the prompt and proper payment of taxes.

“Necesita kita tene el bastante fondo y hace con este usable para na seguridad, educacion y servicio social. If funds are used well, then the people would feel that the government is responding to their  needs”, she added. — Sheila Covarrubias
