Police intercept truck with 230 sacks of smuggled rice PDF Print E-mail

Men of the Tetuan Police Station intercepted a truck loaded with smuggled rice that came from a mini wharf in Arena Blanco at dawn last Thursday.
Policemen rushed to Arena Blanco after receiving a report that smuggled rice that came from Jolo had just arrived.
The police team led by Insp. Daniel Lozada under Chief Insp. Elmer Acuña arrived at the said place and spotted a cargo truck loaded with sacks of rice driven by Jovito Maravilla.
Police counted a total of 230 sacks of rice of 25 kilograms each found aboard the truck.
It was learned that the confiscated smuggled rice belonged to Alonto Sawaki y Ada of Guiwan.
Police said the rice shipment was transported from Jolo aboard M/V Rawda owned by Rawda Chiong of Jolo, Sulu.

The truck as well the smuggled rice were temporarily impounded at the Talon-Talon COMPAC awaiting turn-over to the Bureau of Customs. – Dan Toribio Jr.
