This, as unscrupulous individuals, who are out to sow misinformation and confusion, are circulating false text messages causing undue alarm and panic among the residents.
“We assure you that the increased police visibility and other movements of authorities are part of the regular security measures in the City,” Mayor Climaco assured stressing that the police and the military in cooperation with the City Government are exerting all efforts to maintain normalcy in peace and security.
Contrary to the text messages being circulated, no curfew has been imposed in the city and that classes remain normal in all levels in the city.
Residents the past days have expressed alarmed after receiving series of text messages warning about alleged security threats. The text messages also inform about the imposition of curfew in the city and the cancellation of classes in various schools.

The text messages came about following a meeting called by Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founder and former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Nur Misuari at his residence in San Roque of all MNLF members. — Sheila Covarrubias
