A 19-year-old man was stabbed and killed by one of three men near Yubenco Star Mall in Putik at dawn yesterday.
The suspects were arrested at a police checkpoint in Sta. Maria few minutes later.

The fatality was identified as Al-Sharif Agga, single, of Sto. Niño, Putik. He sustained a stab wound in the left lower ribs and was taken to the Western Mindanao Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police identified the suspects as Rex Gandawan, 27, his brother Michael Gandawan, both of Camino Nuevo and Jojo Gamok, 22, a native of Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Norte.

A police report disclosed that Agga was walking towards their residence after coming from a drinking spree at a store along Putik road when three men aboard a motorcycle arrived and Rex approached and stabbed him in the body.

The incident was witnessed by one of Agga’s drinking pals who rushed him to the hospital.
Before the suspects left the place, a policeman passing the area saw them and flashed an alarm to all stations.

Few minutes later, operatives of the Sta. Maria Police Station intercepted the suspects at a checkpoint and recovered a blood stained knife from the possession of Rex.

The suspects were brought to the WMMC where they were positively identified by Agga’s companion as the assailants. They were detained at the Divisoria Police Station pending the filing of charges against them. — Dan Toribio Jr.
