The General Santos City Government under Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera and Vice Mayor  Sherlyn L. Bañas-Nograles will put up a building for the city’s  press club and a media center.

Rivera and Bañas- Nograles announced this during a fellowship with local newsmen at the Sun City Hotel Friday last week.

Rivera said he needs the strong support of media for his advocacy and programs aimed for the welfare and benefits of the people and stakeholders of the city.

Under Rivera’s leadership together with Vice Mayor Bañas-Nograles and the majority members of the Gensan City Council, a local Tri-Media Monitoring Board was formed to monitor prices of basic commodities and the general situation in the city and other places.

Bañas-Nograles for her part told newsmen that they should be united and make one presentation with one solid organization. She also advised all members of the Gen Press Club not to allow in the organization fake mediamen and pretend ers.

“We need a continuous advocacy on values formation and we need quality people. Tri-Media has a big role in shaping the minds of the people,” Nograles said. — Allen Abastillas
