The Zamboanga City Water  District is now accepting applications  on new water connections from residents of Lumayang and Lumbangan, after the office finally commissioned the water system on January 24 of this year.    

The water system is the first biggest funded project supported by the Rotary Foundation and the USAIDPhilippine Water Revolving Fund Support Program. The Rotary Club of Zamboanga City West was the main proponent of the project with ZCWD as its implementing agency. The water system was inaugurated on October 08, 2010.

Applicants are advised to visit the Application Section at the groundfloor of ZCWD’s Main Office at Pilar Street.  The first requirements to submit to ZCWD are the following:

1. Photocopy of lot title (if applicant is the lot owner) or
2.  Authorization from lot owner to install facilities in his/her lot duly notarized by a notary public ( if applicant is not the lot owner)
3. Sketch –location
4. Barangay clearance
ZCWD will then issue an Application Information Sheet for applicants to fill up after he/she has submitted the first requirements. The additional requirements are as follows:

1. Building permit from the City Engineer’s Office
2. Excavation permit from the City Engineer’s Office
3. Orientation Seminar Certificate which will be issued by ZCWD after applicant has attended the Orientation held every Friday at 2:00 PM at the ZCWD Roofdeck.
4. Photo (to be taken by ZCWD webcam)

Transaction of water service application will take at least 5 working days to process provided all requirements are complete.  The office encourages applicants to personally attend the orientation seminar for them to be aware of their obligations, rights and responsibilities as well as the rights and obligations of ZCWD and the policies affecting consumers.  

Aside from this Php21M water system project, the office has finally started the rehabilitation of the Talon-talon pipelines. The project costing Php6.8M is one of the major commitments of ZCWD as presented during the public hearing on water rate hike in May 2009.  (
