Kagawad helps flood victims in Sta. Maria PDF Print E-mail

Taking pity on the misfortune that befell on the flashflood victims, Kagawad Abe Solis Tan last Tuesday afternoon distributed relief assistance to at least 155 families mostly residing near the riverbanks at Villa, Sta. Maria, this city.

Tan said the relief goods consisted of grocery items will be enough for the victims for two to three days until the flood waters will settle down.

Aside from the relief assistance, Tan also conducted “libre Gupit” to children including adults who want their hair cut.

The young barangay leader whose slogan is “El Esperanza del maga Jovenes” had for several times conducted similar activities in the different puroks in Sta. Maria with the sincere intention of assisting the deprived and unfortunate residents of his community.

“Desde aquel tiempo Sangguniang Kabataan chairman pa iyo, bien mucho ya gat iyo maga outreach missions ya ase, libbreng Gupit, libre tuli, distribution of school supplies cunel maga bata ta estudia na elementary school y otras cosas pa,” Tan said.

He advised the riverbank dwellers to be on alert always especially during heavy downpour.

“Si ta observa ustedes cay bien alto ya el agua na rio tene gayot cuydaw si puede evacua anay para nuay cosa ay pasa,” the young kagawad stressed.

According to Tan, he is happy when he gives something to the people. “It is better to give than to receive.” — Nonong Santiago
