Malaysian escapes from captors in Sulu PDF Print E-mail

A Malaysian plantation manager held hostage by Abu Sayyaf guerrillas was recovered by the police in Indanan, Sulu Tuesday morning.

Tung Wei Jie, 26, single, was spotted by SPO1 Baltazar Sawadi, and other policemen while they were patrolling at Barangay Pasil in Indanan around 7 a.m.

Immediately Jie was brought to the office of the Sulu Police Provincial Director for debriefing.

Jie told the police that he was able to escape from his captors and walked fast until ended up in Barangay Pasil, Indanan,

Jie and his cousin Tung Wei Fei, 34, both Chinese Malaysian,  were seized by gunmen at a palm oil plantation in Lahad Datu, Sabah, Malaysia last November 13, 2012.

Jie and Fei were brought to Sulu by their kidnappers where they were kept for several months.

However, Fei died of sickness while in captivity, Jie told authorities.

Jie was airlifted to Zamboanga City and was brought to the Western Mindanao Command for temporary shelter. – Dan Toribio Jr.
