A newly-born baby boy was found along the highway in Curuan Thursday afternoon.

Shirmaine Guevarra y Nuño, 19, married, of Curuan was on her way to the city proper aboard a motorcycle when she spotted a baby along the road near a ricefield.

Immediately Guevarra stopped, checked and found out that the infant was alive. She took it to the Zamboanga Doctor Hospital for medical check-up.

It was learned that the baby boy with umbilical cord.was wrapped in blanket

After proper check-up and medication at the hospital, the baby boy was brought to the Recreation and Study Center for Children in Talon-Talon for temporary custody.

Men of the Curuan police station were still trying to determine the identity of the baby’s mother.

Investigators suspect that a woman had just given birth and abandoned the child along the road. — Dan Toribio Jr.
