A 60-year-old woman died after she was hit by a fallen tree at Sitio Papaya, Pamucutan last Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Dorotea Tayco y Saavedra, married. She sustained injuries in the body and died on the spot.

A police report disclosed that Tayco and her daughter Annie Rose Ibañez y Tayco were walking along the road at Sitio Papaya when a big tree collapsed and the branches hit her.

Ibañez managed to evade the falling tree trunk and branches and escaped death.

Police said that heavy downpour and strong wind caused the tree to collapse.

The body was brought to the Villa Funeral Parlor for post mortem examination.

Authorities advised the public especially those who are staying in barangays where there are many trees to stay far from the latter especially this rainy season when strong wind and rains can cause similar incidents. – Dan Toribio Jr.
