In recognition of her vast experience in government service and her devotion to duty and service to the people, neophyte District 2 Congresswoman Lilia M. Nuño has been appointed by the present leadership of the Lower House of Congress to nine Standing Committees and two Special Committees,

Nuño was appointed as Vice-Chair, Committee on Food and Agriculture; and Member to the following Committees—Committee on Appropriations, Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Diplomacy, Committee on Mindanao Affairs, Committee on Muslim Affairs, Committee on National Defense and Security, Committee on Small Business and Enterpreneurship Develop-ment and Committee on Tourism. The membership in two Standing Committees are Committee on East ASEAN Area (EAGA) and Committee on Millenium Development Goals.

She revealed that her committee membership might still increase as Plenary Session progresses as the above-mentioned committee list was made as of August 13, 2013.

Rep. Nuño said she was humbled by these appointments as this manifests the huge trust and confidence repose upon her by House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte despite her not being a member of the ruling Liberal Party.

“To reciprocate this kind gesture given me by the House leadership, I will try my best not to be absent in any committee hearing and session and to actively participate in committee discussions and deliberations,” she said.

But Nuño however stressed that her committee works will not distract her from legislating bills and seeking additional funds for the further development and progress of her district. — RLB
