Mayor Beng Climaco yesterday afternoon handed over the city government’s cash assistance amounting to P99,000 to 28 families whose properties went up in smoke, when a fire broke out last July 22 in Barangay Tugbungan, this city.

Of the number, 12 families, whose houses were totally destroyed by the fire, received P5,000 each for a total of P60,000; 10 families with partially damaged houses received P3,000 each for a total of P30,000, while the 6 boarder-families  received P1,500 each for P9,000.

Prior to the distribution, Mayor Climaco inspired the fire victims with a prayer in the hope of giving them hope and strength to face life notwithstanding their loss to the fire.

“This is just a small amount that the city government is giving you compared to what you lost. We hope this can help you in a little way,” the lady mayor told the fire victims.

Assisting her in the distribution of cash assistance to the fire victims were Councilors Eddie Saavedra and Gerky Valesco together with City Social Welfare and Development Office officer-in-charge Evelyn Las Marias.— Vic Larato
