4 new trafficking victims rescued PDF Print E-mail

Four new would-be victims of human trafficking were rescued by the Bongao Inter-Agency Anti- Human Trafficking Task Force (BIATTF) and the Maritime Policein Bongao, Tawi-Tawi last Wednesday.

The four would-be victims, all women, were brought  to Zamboanga City  by Philippine Marines and Department of Social Welfare and Development Tawi-Tawi personnel aboard MV Mary Joy yesterday afternoon.

Chief Insp. Alexander Lorenzo, chief of the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime Western Mindanao Field Office, said that two of the four women are from Laguna, one from Davao City and one from Bulacan. They were recruited to  work in Malaysia as entertainer and singer in a pub.

The four were brought by PCTC and DSWD 9 to the temporary shelter of the Visayan Forum at the Zamboanga port. — Allen Abastillas
