USAID project benefits Tabuan Lasa in Basilan PDF Print E-mail

The United States government through its USAID program recently turned over an Area Coordinating Center to the municipality of Tabuan-Lasa, Basilan.

The project, worth P6 million, include a building, for municipal offices and a huge tank to be used as rain collecting system. A police station was also constructed for policemen tasked to maintain peace and order in the said town.

Earlier before the turnover ceremony, children of the municipality mostly students lined up the street leading to the center, waiting for the arrival of visitors and guests from the United States led by Capt. Tanner Fleck of Task Force Archipelago.

Upon arrival, Fleck was greeted by the children. The soldiers, in return, offered the  children with smile and hand shakes.

A simple ceremony was held at the ACC building  where the American servicemen turned over a symbolic key to the municipal government represented Mayor Muctar Junaid.

In his message, Fleck expressed admiration on the effort of the Tabuan-Lasa municipal government and the ARMM governmentas as a whole for their initiative in adressing the problem in their place in as far as infrastracture is concerned. — Noning Antonio
