As embodied in Executive Order No. 325 and in the Regional Development Council manual of operations, private sector organizations as well as non governmental organizations duly accredited by NEDA, after passing stringent requirements, duly validated by RDC Secretariat, can vote or be voted upon as PSR to the RDC.

Private sector shall comprise one fourth of the members of the duly constituted council. The private sector representative shall serve for a fixed term of three years without prejudice for re-appointment.

Private sector can also be voted upon either as RDC chair or co-chair with the President of the Philippines as the appointing power.

The Regional Development Council is the highest policy making body in the region. It serves as vehicle for private sector involvement in government for a stronger public-private sector partnership.

Zamboanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. President Pedro Rufo “ Pocholo” N. Soliven topped the elections garnering 75% of the total votes cast, followed by Industrial Group of Zamboanga President Engr. George G. Ledesma garnering 50% of the total votes cast.

The private sector convention was held at a local hotel which was hosted by Engr. Vicente Fabian of the National Economic Development Authority-9 (NEDA-9) ‘representing NEDA Regional Director Teresita Socorro C. Ramos with DILG Director Moh Taha Arakama and City Planning and Development Officer Engr. Rodrigo Sicat as observers. — Albert O. Francisco III
