The Department of Education-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s three-day seminar workshop on “Regional Action Planning, Performance- Based Bonus (PBB) Compliance and Consultation on the DepEd Rationalization Plan“ kicked off at Grand Astoria Hotel yesterday.

The seminar workshop is being sponsored by the Australian Aid and Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao (BEAM)- ARMM. The participants are School Superintendents, Assistant School Superintendents, Division Supervisors for Science, Filipino and Alternative Learning System, Division Pilot Madrasah Coordinators, Division Kindergarten Coordinators, Human Resources Management Officers Plantilla in Charge and Planning Officers of the  Divisions of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi and the newly created one school Division of Lamitan City.

Regional Secretary Atty. Jamar Kulayan told the participants that they must do something to improve the quality of education in their area, continue inculcating the values transformation programs to the students and develop more  teachings to improve Science, Math and Filipino subjects.

Atty. Kulayan urged the school officials to learn more, study more as best players and teach quality education so that they can produce the best students, explaining that the number of passers of the National Aptitude Test (NAT) in ARMM is low.

Kulayan is optimistic that by 2015-2016, DepEd-ARMM will produce a model Senior High School.

“Training and continuous schooling are good because it will interrelate to yourself, to your life and to the students and because you will apply it to your personal life,” Kulayan said.

Headded that under his leadership, DepEd- ARMM will soon implement a biometric system of enrolling students that will be started in Lamitan City. — Allen Abastillas
