City Hall orders 7 Baliwasan road corners closed to traffic PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Beng Climaco issued on Thursday an executive order that temporarily closed to vehicular traffic seven street corners in barangays Baliwasan and San Jose to pave way for the rehabilitation of water pipeline project by the Zamboanga City Water District.

In her EO N0. BC05-2013 dated August 22, Mayor Climaco ordered closed to vehicular traffic the intersections of Baliwasan Chico, Baliwasan Moret, San Jose and Baliwasan Grande from 8 a.m. of August 25 to 8 a.m. of August 26.

She said the ZCWD will implement its San Jose pipeline rehabilitation project, which will entail interconnection works on the mentioned intersections.

Thus, upon recommendation of the City Administrator’s Office, the lady chief executive ordered the said intersections closed to traffic so as not to hamper the flow of vehicles plying on said roads.

With the closure order, appropriate signage must be in place to forewarn motorists of the ongoing project and that the area must be well lighted by night to prevent accidents that may arise from the excavation.

Likewise, the contractor of ZCWD project was requested to post personnel on the project sites to assist the traffic aides and the police in managing the vehicular traffic in the area.

The acting city police director of the Zamboanga City Police Office thru the Traffic Unit was also directed to strictly implement the order in a bid to efficiently and effectively address the traffic situation.— Vic Larato
