Another truckload of rice intercepted PDF Print E-mail

Policemen on a visibility patrol in Sta. Catalina intercepted another cargo truck loaded with suspected smuggled sacks of rice at dawn last Saturday.

The truck was driven by Monmamir Hamimon in Sta. Catalina around 3:45 a.m. Police stopped the truck because they noticed it was carying sacks of rice.

Hamimon and the truck helpers could not produce any papers legalizing the transportation of the sacks of rice.

During inventory, police counted a total of 250 sacks of rice aboard the truck.

After ocular investigation and inventory, police impounded the truck and the rice cargo at the central police station  pending its turnover to the Bureau of Customs.

Police are implementing strictly their campaign against illegal importation of rice as ordered by Mayor Beng Climaco.

Since July, thousands of sacks of rice have been seized by the police and several personalities were placed under investigation. – Dan Toribio Jr.
