Shocked and enraged at the enormity of the PDAF scam, prominent business leader and Pnoy supporter Pocholo N. Soliven calls on the business community to make a stand and let their voices heard on the pork barrel issue .

Soliven encouraged everybody who stands for transparency, accountability and good governance to join and support the one million march against the PDAF scam.

Soliven hopes that the Pnoy administration will be serious in its quest for a “ Matuwid na Daan”.

“We want the guilty to be prosecuted and convicted with the full force of the law,” he said.

Soliven calls for the abolition of pork barrel or the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and other special funds like various infrastructures including local projects )and Special Purpose Fund (SPF), “the root cause of corruption, patronage politics and turncoatism compromising and tainting even those with noble intentions,” He said.

“The findings in the COA report for 2007 and 2009 reinforces our suspicions that these funds have been used as a milking cow for personal political gains to institutionalize patronage politics in aid of perpetuating themselves in power, with few exceptions,  The COA findings revealed that there is an admission of the flawed system in the procurement, fiscal management as well as audit procedures,” Soliven said.

He continued: “ The support for the one million march is a personal stand for the present and future generation that they will inherit a better political system bereft of these problems we are facing now. My support to the protest march is not directed to any personality, but a protest on the entire rotten system built to institutionalize patronage politics to allow perpetuation of political dynasties that target the bottom of the pyramid sector, the powerless and the hungry citizens of our country, because this rotten system goes beyond congress. This system is unfolding right in our very eyes.”
