Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas is expected to keynote the Zampen-Basulta Peace and Security Summit that the City Government is hosting on September 10.

The Technical Working Group that is working on the preparations for the activity is now finalizing the plans and is closely coordinating with the agencies and individuals concerned to ensure the success of the activity.

The Zampen-Basulta Peace and Security Summit was proposed by Mayor Beng Climaco during the August 13 inter-agency meeting at the Western Mindanao Command and graced by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin. She at the same time sought technical support from the two secretaries who immediately gave their nod of approval.

The summit is intended to be a venue for discussion related to the prevailing peace and security situation in the Zamboanga Peninsula and Basilan Sulu and Tawi-tawi areas. Expected participants will be military, police, local chief executives and other officials from the areas concerned.

Topics for discussion include gun ban, gun for hire, anti-kidnapping, anti-smuggling and anti-drug campaigns and others issues besetting the city and the region, according to Mayor Climaco.

The activity will be concluded with the signing of a covenant by all the key participants.
