Zamboanga City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. (ZCCIFI) President Pocholo Soliven yesterday advised Zamcelco officials to study first, exercise prudence and caution before entering into a Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with any power supplier.

Soliven’s warning came amid Zamcelco’s rush to enter into a power supply agreement with either CONAL Holdings or Therma Marine which, according to him, will result to  an increase in the electric bill by roughly .20 Cents per KWHR over and above the present rate, and will be  locked out for three years.
“I call on our coop officials to hold on to their horses and exercise prudence and caution in the interest of the member consumers,” Soliven said.

The chamber president maintained that the short fall, assuming there is, should be in the range of 5 MW minimum or 10 mw maximum and not 20 MW as what is being proposed by Zamcelco.
Soliven said this shortfall can be mitigated or offset by implementing an Interruptible Load Program (ILP) and Time Of Use (TOU) scheme.

“Hence a great possibility, that we can ride the wave, through this in order to save the member consumers  from paying more for the convenience of electricity,” Soliven stressed. — NS
