Mayor Beng Climaco expressed her gratitude to all government troops in the frontlines and declared that Zamboanga will never forget the great service they have rendered in defense of the City and the sovereignty of the country.

“We will not forget the sacrifices of our police and our military,” said Climaco during the press briefing Monday afternoon.

For the past eight days, the government forces have stood ground and implemented calibrated measures to contain, constrict and clear affected barangays infiltrated by the breakaway group of Nur Misuari.

The Mayor also shared the cards and notes sent by residents who wished to express their gratitude.

“Palagi kayong mag-ingat,” one card read. “Sana walang mamamatay na soldiers.”

Since the start of the standoff, government troops have suffered 6 casualties, while 81 have been wounded in action. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
