Land Transportation Office-9 Director Aminola P. Abaton disclosed yesterday that owners of motorvehicles with expired registration and driver license will be given consideration by his office in view of the MNLF standoff in Barangay Sta. Catalina, Kasangyangan, and Sta. Barbara since  September 9, 2013

Abaton made a recommendation to the LTO Central Office that Memorandum on Waiving of Penalties on the ground of force  majeure be issued reckoned from September 9, 2013 up to  the date that LTO Zamboanga City will resume office.    “We will give them consideration based on the ending number of their plate numbers when situation in Zamboanga City will go back to normal,” Abaton said.

Since Day 1 of the siege, LTO-9  has not opened its office to serve its clients because it is very near the areas of conflict.

Abaton said motorvehicle owners with expired driver’s license and operators with expired documents will not be penalized for late renewal. — Allen Abastillas
