Retired soldier, pal shot dead in bar brawl PDF Print E-mail

A retired soldier and his companion were shot dead by two gunmen in Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay last Tuesday night.
The fatalities were identified as Geronimo Carpin, 57, a retired soldier and Terry  Damsar, 24.

A police report disclosed Carpin and Damsar were having a drinking spree about 7 p.m.at a local bar when the incident occurred.

Police said the gunmen were also customers in the bar and were having separate drinking session when a heated altercation between the victims and the gunmen.

One of the gunmen allegedly got mad on Carpin for staring at them rudely. At this juncture, a commotion broke out and suddenly the gunmen drew a handgun and shot them repeatedly before fleeing to unknown direction aboard a motorcycle.

Police have launched a pursuit against the gunmen believed to be from a neighboring municipality. — Noning R. Antonio
