The Zamboanga City Fire District yesterday updated the estimated number of houses burned and the estimated amount of damages as the Zamboanga City crisis entered its 16th day yesterday.

ZCFD-BFP Fire Marshal F/Supt. Dominador F. He said that as earlier reported the number of houses, buildings and other structures burned during the series of fires was earlier placed at 1,367 houses and property damaged at only P19.6 million.

However, he said, that after a re-evaluation and re-assessment conducted on the number of families affected in close coordination with the CSWDO, it was revealed that there is a total of 21,572 affected families as of September 24 and about 15,100 came from the most affected areas of conflicts in Barangays Sta. Catalina, Sta. Barbara, Mariki and Rio Hondo and an estimated 9,364 houses were believed to have been razed to the ground.

Moreoverr, fire investigators of ZCFD have estimated the damage to properties, buildings and other structures at P189,910,000.00 or a rough estimate average of P20,000 per house or structure.

The ZCFD-BFP is still on red alert for possible occurrence of more fires that may be perpetrated by the MNLF elements, who continued to fight the government forces.
