Abdihadi told investigators that he was with the group of Habier Malik but when the standoff started, he managed to escape and mixed with the civilian populace until he ended up in Tugbungan.

During investigation, Abdihadi said he is a regular member of the MNLF and was invited by Malik to come over to Zamboanga City to join a so-called peace march in exchange of $40,000.

Abdihadi however said they were told that the $40,000 would be given to them after the march.

He added that he was surprised when they arrived in Sta. Catalina in the evening of September 8 and the following day their group engaged in a gunfight with government troops.

Amid the exchange of gunfire, Abdihadi walked and walked until he arrived in Tugbungan, where he was a stranger.

Meanwhile, when Abdihadi was taken to the city police office, he met Saodi Altawan, also a member of the MNLF who was earlier arrested by government troops.

Altawan was among of those who revealed that Malik have killed some of their companions who were caught trying to surrender amid the gunfight.

Many of the MNLF rebels who were arrested or captured regretted why they joining the Misuari initiated incursion in Zamboanga City.

They said that they joined the MNLF after Malik and other commanders promised them salaries that would enable them to sustain their families. – Dan Toribio Jr.
