Police disclosed yesterday that a total of 30 cadavers have been recovered in the areas of conflict where clearing operations were completed starting three days ago.

Police Regional Information Officer Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca disclosed that out of the 30 bodies recovered, 21 were already in a state of decomposition.

All the bodies were brought to the Villa Funeral Parlor for examinations.

Aside from the cadavers, personnel of Task Force Suyud composed of PNP and AFP explosive experts also retrieved 165 unexploded ordnance (UXO) items consist of rifle grenades, hand grenades and 40 mm grenade launchers.

Aside from houses, the clearing operation included government institutions like ZCMC, National Statistics Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development regional office, barangay hall of Zone 4, Hall of Justice, City Social Welfare and Development, Plaza del Pilar and others.

Huesca said the clearing operations are still in progress in the areas where a series of gunbattles took place.

Residents are not yet allowed to return to their houses and were advised to wait for further announcement from the Crisis Management Committee. – Dan Toribio Jr.
