Despite the MNLF attack that triggered a three-week crisis in Zamboanga City, tourists from abroad and other places in the country  came to join the Fiesta Pilar celebration.

Tourism Regional Director Mary June Bugante said that after the three-week crisis, the situation has returned to normal —  Daily flight schedules of Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines have resumed  and business activities  are now alive and well.      Bugante believes that many people are adventurous and know what is an armed conflict and they are not afraid to visit the city for the Fiesta Pilar celebration.

Tourists who are in the city include Koreans, Canadians, Europeans and those from Manila and other places in the country.

Government forces who fought the MNLF attackers received full support from the city government and the good people from Day 1 on September 9 until the rebels were defeated three weeks later.
