The acquisition of motorvehicles in the region has always been increasing, according to records at the Land Transportation Office 9.

LTO-9 Director Aminola P. Abaton reported to Undersecretary Virgie Torres that the increase in the acquisition of motorvehicles in the region has resulted to the increase in the issuance of driver’s license and made the office surpass its revenue target collection.

Abaton explained that from January to December 2010, his office has registered a total of  453,982 vehicles compared to only 379,360 in year 2009.

In the issuance of driver’s license and student permit, his office issued a total of 218,756 from January to December 2010, compared to only 182,620 in 2009.
Collection of revenue from January to December 2010 reached P 269,516,552.55, compared to only P 235,873,512.42 in 2009.

Meanwhile, Abaton said his office has continued its road safety lectures, seminars and education to the different schools, colleges and universities in the region. The rationale of the educational program on road safety is to teach students to follow the traffic laws so as for them to be able to help the government teach their respective family and people they know  to follow and obey the traffic laws. — Allen Abastillas
