The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) under the leadership of Secretary Bai Omera D. Dianalan-Lucman will observe this month its 1st Anniversary Celebration.

Then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law Republic Act No. 9997 on February 18, 2010, the act creating NCMF, and became effective 15 days after or on March 6, 2010.

Acting Regional Director Dennison M. Abidin disclosed that the NCMF anniversary celebration in the region has kicked off with a series of events that started on February 15, 2011 coinciding with the observance of Maulidun Nabi, a Muslim Legal Holiday, which commemorates the birthday (12th day ofRabia Awwal 1432) of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), pursuant to PD No. 1083 or the Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines.

The highlight of the occasion is the sports event which will be participated in by all employees in the region who will compete for different prizes at stake, and the awarding of certificates to the most improve office or division by Secretary Lucman, Abidin said.

A thanksgiving prayer followed by a modest lunch will also be held on March 7, 2011 to be attended by the NCMF employees, Muslim dignitaries and some local officials, according to  Abidin.
