A former Philippine Constabulary (PC) enlisted man and his son, both regular members of the Moro National Liberation Front based in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte,  were held for questioning in Labuan yesterday morning.

In an interview, Mahmod Labaoig, 61, married, barangay kagawad of Cusipan, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, said that he and his son Serhan Labaoig went to Labuan, this city to buy commodities to sell in their place when they were approached by policemen who interrogated them.

Mahmod, an Islam convert and a native of Ilocos,  said that residents of Labuan reported their presence to the police because he was a military jacket uniform.

When policemen went to the area, they spotted Mahmod and his son and immediately held them for questioning.

Mahmod presented to the police his MNLF identification card that prompted the lawmen to take them to the police station.

Mahmod said they used to buy commodities in Labuan since they started their small business in Sibuco.

He added that despite their membership in the MNLF, they did not participate in the Sept. 9 attack or in any other atrocities.

Mahmod said he doesn’t even know Habier Malik.

Moreover he said there are many MNLF members in their place. – Dan Toribio Jr.
