Even though the situation in Zamboanga City is back to normal with its economic activities now becoming more vibrant after the three-week crisis, the Police Regional Office-9 and all police units under it are still in full alert status.

PRO-9 spokeperson Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca disclosed that after the three-week crisis, policemen who fought the MNLF rebels during the chaos, continued serving the people during the week-long  continuous rains, especially the evacuees who were victims of floods in the different barangays.

PRO-9 Director Chief Supt. Juanito B. Vaño has directed all  police commanders in the region to maintain maximized deployment of troopers even though the situation in Zamboanga City is peaceful.

Economic activities in the city are now alive commercial flights are back to regular schedules.

Vaño called on the people to be extra vigilant and alert when they receive alarming text messages.

He said the people should call, text or inquire the authorities to verify or confirm any rumor circulating through text mesages or online. — Allen Abastillas
