Some 100 kilos of beef donated by the Filipino Turkish Tolerance School for Zamboanga City evacuees relative to the October 15 celebration of Eid al Adha went to waste apparently due to mishandling by people in charge of its distribution.

The 100 kilos of meat were buried at the motorpool ground in Barangay San Roque after it was found out to be already spoiled and could not be consumed.

A reliable source at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) disclosed that the beef was already stinking because it was not immediately distributed to the intended beneficiaries (evacuees) for their consumption.

The people in charge have to dispose the100 kilos of meat to prevent food poisoning  among the evacuees.

The same source said the 100 kilos of beef were put on a cold storage of a private firm where its personnel took the meat out because the firm’s processed food items have to be given priority.

Critics said that the people in charge of the distribution of the beef should have distributed it immediately on the day it was donated by the Filipino Turkish Tolerance School

Every year, the Filipino Turkish Tolerance school slaughters more than 300 cattle and following the Kurban tradition  tons of beef are donated to poor Muslim and Christians in many barangays of the city.

The Filipino Turkish Tolerance school  alloted 10 cows to the city government purposely for the thousands of evacuees  in the different evacuation centers.

They also donated 400 plastic bags to the office of Mayor Beng Climaco Salazar for the mayor to  to identify her beneficiaries. — KS
