ZCWD repairs damaged facilities, resumes service in affected brgys PDF Print E-mail

The week-long heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms experienced by the city during the second week of October damaged several facilities of the ZCWD. Thus,  affecting at least 12 barangays in the east and west coast areas.

In the east coast, the main transmission line at Sitio Brea was damaged by fallen trees. Service in Barangays Lumayang and Lumbangan was interrupted. Although repair team was dispatched immediately to oversee the repair, they had to go back few days after as crossing the river was dangerous due to the high level of water. A day after the repair was completed, water service was again interrupted due to landslide in other part of the barangay.

On the same day of October 8, a fallen coconut tree damaged the ZCWD’s 3” line in Lupirao and affected services in barangays Tolosa, Lanzones, Guisao and Cabaluay.  Repair team was immediately dispatched to fix the problem.

Meanwhile, the damaged pipeline at Cawit Bridge also affected Barangays Cawit, Maasin and Sinunuc. Immediate repair was not possible as water level was quite high. Maintenance crew went back days after water level in the river subsided. During the same week, the mainline located underneath the 1st bridge in Sininuc broke, affecting  mainly the barangay of Sinunuc.

The reported landslides in sitio Bandera also damaged distribution lines and rendered no water in Malagutay and Flamingo areas.

Operations Group Head, Assistant General Manager Alejo S. Rojas, Jr. and his men were on call 24/7, as water deliveries were undertaken to augment water requirement in affected barangays.

Water services in at least 9 barangays resumed on October 15, 2013 and few days after in Sinunuc, Flamingo and Malagutay.
