The Crisis Management Committee (CMC) has lifted the suspension on the issuances of Community Tax Certificates and barangay clearances.

The announcement was made by Mayor Beng Climaco during the press briefing yesterday, October 23, following nearly a month-long deferment on the issuance of official certifications.

“In view of the normalization of the situation in the City of Zamboanga, the temporary suspension of the issuance of the Community Tax Certificates (CTC) or cedula, and the brgy certifications, is lifted effective today, October 23,” declared Climaco.

It should be noted that the CMC ordered the suspension on September 27 as part of the heightened security measures supporting the clearing operations of government forces in areas affected by the armed conflict.

In light of this development, Climaco requested barangay officials to be vigilant and cautious in the issuance of certifications which identify a particular person as an official resident of their barangay.

“We ask the barangay officials to ensure that the person being issued these documents is properly identified as legitimate residents of their respective barangays,” said Climaco who once called for the cooperation of barangay officials in maintaining security and order in their respective areas. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
