The 901st Maritime Police Station on Tuesday transferred to a new site in the coastal area of  Barangay Rio Hondo.

The new site was one of the areas where the MNLF rebels landed prior to the attack on September 9, 2013.

Supt. Rollen D. Arino, Maritime Unit 9 chief,  said the transfer and installation of officers and troopers were presided by Maritime Group Director Chief Supt. Henry P. Losañes who came over last Tuesday.

Losañes also conducted a command visit of the different stations of RMU-9 in the city and also presided a conference of RMU-9 officers..

Arino said the 901st Maritime Police Station was formerly stationed in Paniran at the port area. Its new site,  near the  Barangay Hall of Rio  Hondo and a detachment of the Philippine Marines, has a finger wharf.

The 901st Maritime Police Station is headed by Sr.  Insp. Manule Paulino Fabon Jr.

Rio Hondo and Mariki were among the areas where heavy firefights took place between government forces and MNLF rebels during the three-week crisis that paralyzed the operations and functions of national and local government offices and affected the economic livelihood of the people and the business sector.  — Allen Abastillas
