Supt. Severino B. Agustin, chief of the Highway Patrol Group-9, has ordered all HPG Provincial Teams to assist traffic management in the different schools along national highways during the conduct of the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election today.

Aside from assisting in traffic management and flow of voters in the different precincts along highways in the region. HPG operatives are also reminded to  be vigilant and alert in monitoring the entry and exit of motorvehicles.

Agustin reminded HPG operatives in Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay that only the electorate of the three provinces  will exercise their right of suffrage as election in Zamboanga City has been postponed and moved to Nov. 25, 2013 as a result of the three-week  crisis.

Earlier, Commission on Elections Regional Director Wilfred Jay Balisado announced that election will only be conducted in the three provinces as Zamboanga City is still recovering from the three-week crisis brought about by the September 9 MNLF siege which paralyzed the functions of national and local government offices and the economic activities in this city.   The rebels were defeated by the government forces. The crisis was followed by the week-long continuous rains that caused massive flooding in the city. — Allen Abastillas
