Police have mounted a crackdown against betting slot machines which have lately proliferated in the city with hundreds of bettors, including minors, are addicted to it.

Men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company under Supt. William Gadayan confiscated two slot machines in Guiwan, two others in Gov. Camins Avenue and one in Canelar Triplitt around 7:30 p.m. last Sunday,

On the other hand, operatives of the Anti-Carnapping Unit led by Sr. Insp. Raymond Sanson confiscated one betting slot machine in Canelar at 7 a.m. Monday,

Meanwhile, men of the Sta. Maria Police Station also confiscated another betting slot machine in Sta. Maria area around 12:30 a.m., Sunday.

Two other betting slot machines were seized by men of the Anti-vice Section led by Sr. Insp. Joseph Lim along Alejo Alvarez Street last Sunday while two others were confiscated along Cervantes Street last Saturday.

Around 3 p.m. last Saturday, Sanson and his men seized four slot machines in Aquino Drive and Sto Niño.

Two other similar machines were seized by men of the Detective Management Unit in Tugbungan.

All the seized slot machines were turned over to the City Police Office for proper disposition. – Dan Toribio Jr.
