Another decomposing body of an MNLF rebel was exhumed in Ayer Village, Sta. Barbara last Thursday morning.

A police report disclosed that scavengers were picking up burned steel bars, GI sheets and other scrap materials when they accidentally dug a small grave about 1 feet deep where they saw a human leg around 11a.m.

The incident was reported to the police.

Acting on the report,  men of the Investigation Section led by Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines and personnel of the Villa Funeral Parlor proceeded in the area and exhumed the remains of a man.

During ocular investigation, police concluded that the remains found belong to an MNLF rebel based on the uniform he was wearing.

The uniform’s name plate read “S. Nur”. Investigators said that Nur was under the MNLF Basilan Task Force.

Police added that Nur was one of those who were killed during the stand off and his body was buried by his companion beside the house of a Jul Hassan Halil in Ayer Village, Sta. Barbara. — Dan Toribio Jr.
