A 73-year-old man was seriously injured after he was sideswiped by a panel truck along Lobregat Highway in Boalan yesterday morning.

Injured was Crispin Cabayacruz, 73, married of Sitio Buenagatas, Boalan. He suffered skull fracture and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

A police report disclosed that Cabayacruz was riding a bicycle on his way to Buenagatas and while he was making a left turn fronting Boalan Elementary School heading for Buenagatas, he was accidentally sideswiped by a panel truck driven by Paolo Fortich.

Fortich stepped on the brake, but Cabayacruz was already dragged few meters away before the truck stopped.

Fortich surrendered to the police after the incident.

The victim was unconscious when paramedics arrived in the area. He was rushed to the hospital aboard an ambulance.

The panel truck was temporarily impounded at the Divisoria Police Station while Fortich was placed under police custody. – Dan Toribio Jr.
