An employee of the Premium Gases Corporation was killed after a gas tank accidentally exploded in Logoy Diutay, Talon-Talon yesterday morning

The fatality was identified as Mark Jay Velasco of Mampang. He sustained burns in his body and was rushed to the hospital where he expired.

Initial investigation showed that Velasco and some co-employees were refilling gas tanks in the compound of Premium Gases Corporation when one of the oxygen tanks suddenly exploded around 7 a.m.

Men of the Tetuan Police Station responded to the incident and conducted investigation of the deadly explosion.

Bomb experts of the Explosive and Ordnance Disposal team arrived at the blast site and also  conducted a post blast investigation to determine the cause of the blast.

Meanwhile, a man wanted for three counts of rape was arrested in barangay Labuan at noon yesterday.

Nabbed was Richard Santos y Ventura, 39, married. He was arrested by men of the Labuan Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Chester Natividad.

Santos was nabbed on the strength of a warrant for three counts of rape with case numbers 21551-21553.

The warrant was issued by Judge Peter Eisma of the Regional Trial Court on April 28, 2005.

Santos was detained at the Labuan Police Station pending his turn-over to the court. – Dan Toribio Jr.
