The Third Division of the Sandiganbayan yesterday has acquitted the over a dozen employees of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Office-9 from the graft and corruption charges filed against them.

This was announced yesterday by Atty. Quirino Esguerra, Jr., who stood as a pro bono legal counsel of Angelina Domingo, one of the accused in the graft and corruption charges filed against Miralam Tillah, Jr. et al by the Comission on Audit (COA).

Tillah was then the DA Regional Office-9 director when the case was filed against them.
Esguerra said through a telephone call from Manila that the Sandiganbayan’s Third Division handed down the decision at 1:30 p.m. yesterday.

It was learned from Esguerra that the case stemmed from the March 2002 “alleged anomalous bidding and awarding of contract that gave undue advantage to a favored supplier.”

Esguerra’s client, Domingo, who works as a utility personnel at the DA regional office, was designated as one of the canvassers when the bidding was held.

Esguerra said he welcome and was elated by Sandiganbayan’s decision acquitting the acussed.
