A barangay chairman in Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur narrowly escaped death after he was sprayed with bullets last Friday morning.

Henry Caliso Magsayo, 52, married, incumbent Barangay Chairman Sumpotan, Dinas, only sustained a gunshot wound in the left shoulder. He managed to run and drive his motorcycle.

Magsayo was rushed by a certain Bobong Colanggo to the Pagadian City Medical Center for treatment.

Magsayo was shot by four gunmen using M14 Rifles based on the recovered spent shells at the crime scene.

Initial investigation conducted by men of the Dinas Municipal Police Station led by Insp. Manuel Acabal Elumbaring, Deputy Chief of Police, disclosed that while said Magsayo was driving his motorcycle from his residence going to Barangay Poblacion, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur, gunmen opened fire on him at a secluded area.

Responding policemen recovered 19 empty shells of M14 Rifle at the crime scene.

In another incident,  gunmen sprayed with bulkets the houses of Mohibat Pagayao, Barangay Chairman of old Labangan, Mike Pagayao, Jumael Nasria Buhisan, Sabila Maguindra and Zaidal Zamplidan in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur around 7:30 p.m. last Thursday.

The six-year-old girl daughter of Sabila Maguindra identified as Danah Maguindra was hit in the head and was rushed to Aizah Medical Center, Pagadian City for treatment.

The perpetrators immediately escaped after the shooting.

Men of the Labangan Municipal Police Station and Provincial Public Safety Company, Second Maneuvering Company, Regional Public Safety Battalion 9 and Explosive and Ordnance Division, Zamboanga del Sur rushed to the area but the gunmen where nowhere to be foiund.
