Police yesterday brought to the City Prosecutor Office for the inquest two persons caught bringing in large quantity of shabu at the Zamboanga airport

Salim Sabtari y Kalim and Mohammad Daud Arabani y Hashim were brought to the Hall of Jjustice and were presented to a prosecutor along with witnesses and evidences for the proper forwarding of case for violation of Article 2 of Section 5 of the Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002.

Police also presented to the prosecutor all the documents, evidences and witnesses in the case.

Based on the quantitative and qualitative examinations conducted by experts at the PNP Crime Laboratory,  it appeared that the crystalline substance concealed in cartons of Alaska milk were positive as methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with a total weight of 17.4 kilograms. The inquest proceeding continued until yesterday afternoon.

DZT gathered that the case recommended by the police to the Department of Justice was non-bailable considering the large volume of shabu seized from balikbayan boxes that were brought in by Sabtari and Arabani.

The duo were held at the airport last Friday morning after x-ray operators at the departure area found 18 boxes of Alaska powdered milk placed in the two big boxes contained shabu.

Sabtari and Arabani were on their way to Tawi-Tawi from Manila via Zamboanga City. – Dan Toribio Jr.
